Waves of Thoughts

My relationship with water is very intimate … dreamy, probing, profound.

My assistant sent these last three water photos in her inspiration research — my creativity food — and she triggered many memories about Alexa and water.

As you surely understand, water is deeply sensual to me. It calms me, giving me power.

I adore Venice … so much so that I once slept there until noon. I was so confused when I woke up, I thought I had died and was in another place in the universe. This was a private trip with my partner … the train from Zurich through the Alps to Venice and the sea.

Brushing my hair, still amazed that I had slept until noon, I heard a familiar song outside. What the heck!! Flinging open the windows, I was hanging out into the canal, bearing witness to a uniquely special sight.

The song was “Pomp and Circumstance”. It was graduation day for the American University in Rome, but with a satellite in Venice. Gondolas filled with white-robed graduates drifted through the canal.

Everyone was cheering … all of Venice was out to greet them. It was a gorgeous sight, a throwback to a different time and place and values.

Another time I had two colleagues with me on a business trip in Cortina, the Italian ski resort. I can’t remember the geography exactly, but the driver took us to Venice, just for dinner and to fly out the next morning.

In the morning, we took a water taxi to the airport. My two associates were totally exhausted and asleep on the benches of the boat. I was completely awake … standing outside in the fog … waving goodbye to a city I love deeply.

MWAH … I still love you, Venice. Alexa

Anne and the Sea in South Beach

Seeing this photo on Black Eiffel triggered memories of my August 2007 walk along the water in South Beach. It was my first visit, to close the deal with the web guys in Fla. I was so excited, walking in the water that morning … dreaming of my new Noir business.

I shared my thoughts with readers of my online journal:

From Alexa’s private journal:

“Turning East to face the crashing waves, I tied the elements of my trip together. I admit to facing Her Majesty in my sexy, black Tao Las Vegas t-shirt. The breeze lifted my short skirt even higher, but there was no one to look … and I didn’t care if they did.

Experiencing this awesome beauty, her magnificent, sovereign force, I connected with myself more than any other time during the week.

Las Vegas is an escape from reality, but in South Beach, one still confronts it, in moments of deep, raw, natural sensuality. Perhaps it’s the Latin influence at work.

This message is what my little journal tries to communicate, dear readers… the beauty of ordinary, everyday sensual experiences, the necessity of keeping la dolce vita in our daily lives, so that we have fortitude and understanding when the walls come crashing down.”

To my new readers — my Noir friends — my sentiments remain the same.

Love, Alexa

New Research Confirms "Blond Ambition Benefits" Go Everywhere

Not only do blonds have more fun. We just might enjoy better orgasms. New research confirms that blonds feel more confident and sexually assertive.

Clairol’s research showed that the blond boost didn’t fizzle out in orgasmic bliss but commanded a premium in the boardroom as well.

Blonds reported being more likely to ask for a raise, challenge their boss or stand firm when confronted by a coworker.

Don’t assume that blonds are a high-maintenance pain in the derriere. In fact, they self-assessed themselves as women seeking adventurous, light-hearted, fun times with help from their blond locks.

I can honestly say that my life changed instantly as a blond.

Many years ago my hairdresser looked at me and said “Alexa, you are not a brunette. You’re serious enough already; I think you should become a blond.”

I made the decision to radically change my appearance in about 60 seconds, and without calling my fiancé. “You’re sure,” I asked Jacob, critically appraising myself in the mirror.
